Sigma Lambda Alpha, Beta Chapter

This is the second sorority for which we have created a website. The aim of the site was to create an information portal for potential members as well as current sisters while keeping sensitive information of the group protected from outsiders.

The challenge of the design was to integrate the sorority’s colors (burgundy, green, and gold) and symbols (SLA crest, eagle, and red rose) into a holistic design. By creating a predominantly black & white design and using the group’s colors as accent colors, the integration of these disparate colors is much more pleasing to the visitor’s eye. The header graphic includes all of the above except the red rose, which is interwoven with the footer information.

The grey background in contrast with the white content area and black header background and page bottom serves to emphasize the page itself, whose bounds are dictated by the width of the header banner. The black page bottom is especially important for anchoring the page and connecting it to the top of the page.
